Comedian Janeane Garofalo is sick of everyone taking shots at her pal Louis C.K. Appearing on Bust’s podcast Poptarts, Garofalo defended C.K.’s attempt to resuscitate his career after admitting to masturbating in front of multiple women without their consent. Meanwhile, new emails reveal that C.K. may have passed along an STD to alleged fraudster chef Sarma Meingailis, The Post reports.

“Leave Louis C.K. alone. Enough with that. And again, there are so many issues we gotta be motivated on. He’s been my friend — and I stand by that — he’s been my friend since 1985, and I think he has suffered,” she said. “And when he performs at the Comedy Cellar and people get all irate, if nothing else, care about his daughters. If nothing else — if you can find no compassion for him, which I think you should — think about how his daughters, who hear all of this stuff, feel. Why don’t you leave him alone for them if you’re so women-empowering?”

She continued, saying the public was being “unfair” and bullying C.K.

Garofalo said: “This is so unfair, because it’s another thing where people get bullied. I don’t believe in kicking a person when they’re down.”

OFFENSIVE MATERIAL

She added that C.K. is being unfairly criticized for his material (he was slammed for mocking Parkland shooting survivors in a bit recently and separately repeatedly using the N-word in resurfaced video). Garofalo opined: “Oh my God. Do you know how much offensive material goes on at the Comedy Cellar? You know what? If you don’t want to listen to him, get up and leave the room. You are acting like Mussolini has walked into the room, and it is not.”

She also shared her thoughts on the #MeToo movement: “When it comes to the #MeToo movement, I think it’s okay to question the source. It should transcend gender. It’s human rights. ‘Cause if you don’t, anyone can be accused of anything at any time. And if you’re not allowed to question that — I can say right now ‘I’ve got pictures of you molesting a child. Don’t question me!’ You know what I mean? Don’t question the questioner! Then it’s a Twilight Zone episode.”

STD?

In a series of emails unearthed between C.K. and Meingalis (who has been accused of failing to pay employees at NYC’s Pure Food and Wine and One Lucky Duck, and was later arrested along with her husband for grand larceny and tax fraud) show that they had sex, which may have lead to her getting an STD from him.

In one email sent in 2012, she allegedly explained that her previous angry emails were sent because she was “upset and freaked out.”

Louis C.K. responded: “hey. I understand you’re upset. This kind of s–t is tough. I never swore that I was clean. I told you I may or may not have given this to you. I’m sorry if I did. If you gave it to me, it’s okay. We all share the current human bloodstream, which includes this kind of stuff. I should have worn a condom, you should have made me, we should have a lot of things. we are human,” he wrote.
