Paul McCartney made a surprise appearance at the Capitol Records' fifth annual Capitol Congress on Wednesday (August 8th) in Hollywood. McCartney received the first ever Capitol Icon award and was interviewed by Marc Maron for a special edition for WTF Podcast.

McCartney discussed fame, meeting fans, recording with John Lennon, The Beach Boys and the Beatles' rivalry with Rolling Stones. Of the latter, McCartney said, “We were at that Oldchella thing together. They’re great. We go back a long way and there was never really a rivalry.”

McCartney's new album Egypt Station is due out this fall.
